  • After a storm

A tree that has split, leant or partly come down.

  • Too big for the space

How we work

How we take a tree down

Three steps, agreed with you before any work starts.

  1. Step 1: We visit and measure up

We look at the tree, what sits underneath it and how we will get the wood out.

  2. Step 2: We check and plan

We check for a preservation order or conservation area, then plan where each piece comes down.

  3. Step 3: We take it down and tidy

Climbers dismantle from the top; the ground team lowers, cuts, chips and clears.

FAQs

Felling and removal: your questions

Answers to what people ask us most about this job.

Do I need permission to fell a tree in my garden?

In England, not usually. You do if the tree has a Tree Preservation Order, if you are in a conservation area, or if a planning condition protects it. We check with the council before we quote and can make the application or give the notice for you.

Do I need a felling licence?

In England, not for trees in a private garden. Felling licences from the Forestry Commission cover larger amounts of timber felled outside gardens, such as woodland. Wales and Scotland have their own licensing bodies.

Can I keep the wood?

Yes. We can cut logs to suit your stove, leave large rings for you to split, or take everything away.

What happens to the stump?

We can cut it low and leave it, or grind it out below the surface so you can turf or plant over the spot.

Choose the closest. You can explain more at the end.

Roughly how big is it?

Compared with the house is fine. For a hedge, think of its height.

Where is it?

Just the town or postcode for now. We ask for the address only if a visit is needed.

How do we get to it?

Where should we reply?

A name and one way to reach you. Everything else is optional.

We use it only to reply about this quote.
