What happens after you ask.
No surprises: you know what will be done, what it costs and when, before anyone climbs.
Step 1: Tell us about the tree
Use the quote form or call. A photo or two helps us bring the right kit to the visit.
Step 2: We visit and quote in writing
We look at the tree with you, check for any protection and send a clear written quote with the price.
Step 3: We do the work and clear up
On the agreed day the team does the work, chips the waste and leaves the garden swept and tidy.
Before you book any tree work
The questions that come up on almost every visit.
How much does tree work cost?
It depends on the tree, the access and what sits underneath it. Our guide prices start from £120 for a single stump and £280 for pruning a small tree, and every job gets a written quote after a visit.
Do I need permission to work on my tree?
In England, only if it has a Tree Preservation Order, you are in a conservation area or a planning condition covers it. We check with the council before we quote and handle the application or notice for you.
What happens to the waste?
Branches are chipped on site and the chippings and logs are recycled, or left for you if you would like them. The garden is raked and swept before we leave.
When is the best time to prune?
Most trees can be pruned from late autumn to late winter, when they are dormant and birds are not nesting. Birch, maple and walnut bleed sap in late winter and spring, and cherries and plums are best pruned in summer, so we time those differently and always check for nests first.
Do I need a felling licence?
In England, not for trees in a private garden. Felling licences from the Forestry Commission cover larger amounts of timber felled outside gardens, such as woodland. Wales and Scotland have their own licensing bodies.
When should hedges be cut?
Most hedges are best cut in late summer, with a second cut in winter if they need it. We avoid the main nesting season, roughly March to August, unless we have checked the hedge and found no active nests.
